In 2014 the Ray of Hope Church family prayed and made the decision to sell its 901 Meridian St. east Nashville church site. After 18 years of worshiping God on Meridian St. and ministering to the needs of people in the neighborhood, we decided to sell our big, old, cranky, decaying, difficult to heat and cool, beloved church building. We could spend money shoring up an old building or spend money doing ministry for the Kingdom. We chose the latter. The cloud of God's presence had lifted from over the tabernacle there on Meridian St. (Exod. 40:36). The time had come to follow God's leading to a new location.
In 2016 we both sold our Meridian St. properties and purchased a commercial property site at the corner at Murfreesboro Road and Una-Antioch Pike. It was a step of faith. But the Lord made a way! We invested in property that would eventually be able to sustain the church and underwrite the ministry. We gutted and converted an old Gold's Gym into a welcoming worship site and space for community outreach.
The essence of our ministry as a church has not changed simply because we've shifted to a different location. Love and connection transcend physical space and time, especially in our world that is increasingly connected virtually.
We followed God's voice and trusted God to lead us to our new church location. We opened the doors to our new church site on Sunday, April 2, 2017. It will take some time for all of us to But we trust God. Believe us when we say with the Psalmist, "It is the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our sight!"
